বাংলাদেশের কারিগরি ও মাদ্রাসা শিক্ষাকে কয়েকটি ধাপে ভাগ করা হয়েছে। কারিগরি শিক্ষায় রয়েছে এসএসসি ভোকেশনাল, এইচএসসি বিএম, পলেটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউট, এবং ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজ। এসএসসি ভোকেশনাল এর জন্য ০২ বছর, এইচএসসি বিএম এর জন্য ০২ বছর, পলেটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউটের জন্য ০৪ বছর এবং ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজের জন্য ০৪ বছর। এ ছাড়াও  মাদ্রাসা শিক্ষা সাধারণ শিক্ষায় অনুসৃত কলেজ/বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পর্যায়ের শিক্ষা পাস/অনার্স ডিগ্রী কোর্স (৪ বছর) দিয়ে শুরু হয়। মাস্টার্স কোর্স ডিগ্রী অনার্স ডিগ্রী প্রাপ্তদের জন্য ০১ বছর এবং ডিগ্রী পাস শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য ০২ বছর। এছাড়া কারিগরির আওতায় উচ্চ শিক্ষা, উচ্চ মাধ্যমিকের পর থেকে শুরু হয়। প্রকৌশলী, ব্যবসা, এবং তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি হল কারিগরি ও বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষার প্রধান ক্ষেত্র।

Different Streams in Education

Primary level education is provided under two major institutional arrangements (stream)-general and madrasha, while secondary education has three major streams: general, technical-vocational and madrasha. Higher education, likewise, has 3 streams: general (inclusive of pure and applied science, arts, business and social science), madrasha and technology education. Technology education in its turn includes agriculture, engineering, medical, textile, leather technology and ICT. Madrashas (Arabic for educational institution), functional parallel to the three major stages, have similar core courses as in the general stream (primary, secondary and post-secondary) but have additional emphasis on religious studies.
